The album had a hard rock sound with major elements of funk and jazz, which developed further with their following album S.C.I.E.N.C.E.in 1997.

After the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Incubus replaced DJ Lyfewith DJ Chris Kilmore due to creative differences.

The 1999 album Make Yourself marked a kind of breakthrough for the band, as they got more and more popular (mostly because of the song Drive, which had a lot of airplay).

Building off the success of their previous album, Incubus released Morning View in 2001, an album that was much mellower than their previous releases.

At the end of 2003, Incubus announced that bassist Dirk Lance had been replaced byformer Roots guitarist Ben Kenney, which ultimately lead to the creation of their new sound.

After a creative pause, they released A Crow Left Of The Murder, which sounded nothing like any previous material released.

After doing their first world tour in 2004, Incubus worked on various material throughout 2005.

In 2006, Incubus released their 5th studio album Light Grenades, which took the bands sound to a different approach, yet again.

Incubus supported their latest album with the live DVD Look Alive, which featured many songs off Light Grenades and other recent works.Their latest studio album, If Not Now, When, released in 2011, softened down the sound of Incubus that many fans missed.
